Nosepass Variants: Flying-type

Nosepass cirropass.

Although a Flying-type variant of our much-loved, Rock-type Nosepass seems unlikely, nature seeks to surprise us regardless.

Nosepass cirropass live among high atmosphere clouds, feeding upon moisture and electrical currents. Initially, our scientific team had concerns about whether such a frail-seeming creature could withstand lower altitudes, but much like the infamous Castform, it remains surprisingly hardy in a variety of circumstances.

Observations in the wild remain difficult, as their wispy bodies camouflage excellently within their clouded communities. Indeed, groups of them seem to gather in clouds together as they float through the skies, in what seems to fortify them against high winds and stray impacts. One can assume that social interaction is an important aspect for these variants, and that clinging together in such a density is ultimately beneficial.

In captive environments, Nosepass cirropass is predictably very prone to stray winds and air currents. It appears that its nose is still quite solid, however, and that the use of the magnetism within it allows it to cling to any object, surface, or living creature that it finds particularly stable or agreeable. Some close care is required in order to dissuade it from clinging to dangerous areas, e.g. electrical outlets and sensitive equipment. (Editor's note: Not even going to mention the glasses incident?)

A life in the skies makes specimens caught in the wild very unsure around earthly objects, but nonetheless very curious. When its habit of clinging to others began to annoy those it was spending time with, it appeared to gain a very confused demeanor, suggesting to us that its clinging habits perform a very important social role in colonies of Nosepass cirropass. As always, we will need to spend more time with this variant and attempt to observe more wild groups in order to understand them more.

Caring for Nosepass cirropass may be challenging, but our team believes that its easygoing nature and adorable clinging and fumbling makes it very worth it. For now, we give Nosepass cirropass a rating of 10/10.
